Show Training Horses For Fair Contest With interest reaching almost to the boiling point in the team pulling contest which will be held at the : Sanpete County Fair next month, admirers of horseflesh are giving a concrete demonstration of their view and enthusiasm by offering special prizes to the champion teams. W. G. Stringham of Manti, has headed the list of doners and is offering of-fering a beautifully designed and serviceable pair of housings to the champion team in the 3000 lbs. or over class. To provide equal prizes ! opportunity for the 3000 lbs. or less team, the County Fair has duplicated duplicat-ed Mr. Stringham's prize for that class.' These special prizes are in addition to the $25.00 1st prize, $20.00 second prize and $10.00 third prize offered by the fair management manage-ment for each of the two classes of teams in the contest. Much speculation is rampant as to the pulling strength of teams in proportion to their weight. Past records obtained elsewhere, show that it is rare for a team to pull more pounds than the combined weight of the two horses when hitched to the dynamometer, but it has been done. Sanpete lays claim to having some of the best teams ; and teamsters in the country and that there will be teams at the fair out pull their own weight is anticipated. antici-pated. A hundred dollars in cash has been pledged by individuals as a purse for such teams as pull more than their own weight. Those who have guaranteed the $100 purse with ten ten dollars each are P. C. Madsen, W. J. Wintch, X Lawrence Lowry, I. D. Voorhees, Lewis Larson, H. G. Brown, Ray P. Dyreng, A. M. Tuttle, H. I. Voorhees Voor-hees and R. Lee Kenner. S. W. Chapman, of Manti, who has the team pulling contest in hand finds himself the center pf attraction at-traction wherever he goes. Teamsters Team-sters are wanting to know about the dules and lovers of horseflesh are eagerly' soaking every bit of information infor-mation available about the event. Mr. Chapman expects a hundred teams to enter the contest. j |
