Show Hamilton Scouts Begin Training ' Hamilton ward boy scouts, with Scoutmaster H. A. Porter as director, j delightfully enjoyed an outing Friday i night of last week. Troops from Gunnison, Centerfield, and other communities in the Gunnison Gunni-son valley are making plans and holding hold-ing try-outs, preparatory to attending the annual "jamboree" in Spring City. Friday night, the Hamilton ward scouts were put through tests of cooking, fire-staring by flint, pacinrc a mile, first-aid, rope spinning, signalling sig-nalling with the Morse code, flag ceremony, relay race and other events that will be included in the annual program. When the exercises and tests had been completed, Scoutmaster Porter announced a "feast," which was cleverly clev-erly served and devoured by the troopsters. The menu consisted of toasted marshmallows, roasted we;n-ers we;n-ers and delicious steak cooked boy scout style. |
