Show C. E, Convention Largely Attended Miss Mary McCallum of Salina, was chosen president, Miss Sylvia ' Thorsen of Richfield, vice-president, j Miss Ruth Wall of Mt. Pleasant, sec-I sec-I retary, and Miss Lois Overfelt, treasurer treas-urer of the Southern Utah district of the Utah Christian Endeavor society at the district convention held in this city the first of the week. The elec-i elec-i tion of officers was announced at the j Monday evening meeting. The new officers chosen are all well known in the southern section and the society is to be commended on securing the capable workers just selected. The proceedings of the convention held at the Presbyterian chapel Mon-i Mon-i day afternoon and Tuesday morning proved highly successful from every i standpoint. Visitors were here from i Salt Lake, Mt. Pleasant, Manti, Sa-I Sa-I lina and Richfield and throughout ! much interest was shown in the talks ' and devotional exercises. 1 Miss Madeline Carter, of Topeka, Kansas, and one of the foremost leaders in Christian Endeavor work in the western section, Rev. Chas. J Gaffney of Salt Lake City, and others enthused in the work of Christian En-deavorcrs, En-deavorcrs, spoke before the large crowds that attended the many sessions. ses-sions. Christian endeavor work in all its phases were stressed and through-! through-! out the talks were intensely interest- j ing. Others who spoke were Rev. j Boand and Mrs. D. H. Duckering of ' Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. C. E. Richmond of Salt Lake and Prof. Theodore Martin Mar-tin of Richfield. j j Monday evening a splendid lunch-: eon was served and during that time j toasts were responded to by Miss El Rasmussen of Mt. Pleasant, Hazel Jensen and Mrs. Villard of this city,' and Miss Carter of Topeka, Kansas. J At the several meetings Mrs. R. C. , Norman and Mrs. R. J. Parr of this city furnished vocal and instrumental music and Miss Mary McCallum of Salina rendered a number of solos. i |
