Singing: "He died, the Great Redeemer Re-deemer died." The Priesthood of the First ward officiated in the administration of the sacrament. Elder W. L. Wat-kins Wat-kins read the eighth chapter of the first Book of Kings. The choir sang an anthem: "The Lord is Risen." President Clawson, in making a few remarks, said he desired the sympathy of the people, because no man can speak only by the Spirit of the Lord. We have listened lis-tened to the dedicatory prayer of Solomon on the temple built anciently. an-ciently. Spoke on the efficacy of prayer, etc. Said it is prayer that keeps us in the right path. Dwelt at length on the temple of Solomon and the holiness that-was felt by all that worshipped therein. We have arrived at a period of our history his-tory when we are about to dedicate a house unto the Lord in the last dayd, the Salt Lake Temple. How necessary it is that we go into thai house with contrite spirits. The peaceful influence of the Lord will be in that holy house. Spoke of the uses of the temple, both for the living and the dead. All should feel the sacredncss of our lives before be-fore going into that house and to go with pure thoughts, having met in fast meeting previously and asked one anothers' forgiveness for past offenses. There are two churches on earth: the church of God and the church of the devil. We have every reason to believe this is the church of the living God. Our bodies, which are temples tem-ples for the spirit to dwell in, we should see that they are pure and undefiled. Keep them clean so that we may rocelvo blessings m the temple of our God. Are we prepared pre-pared through our acts in the past to receive the blessing through our : obedience to the laws of God? Spoke of the liberality of the railroad companies in furnishing accommodations to the people going go-ing to the temple. The rate now is $1.50 from Brigham station to Salt Lake and return. The choir sang an anthem: "Now is Christ risen fropi the dead." Benediction by Elder Wm, Hors-l,y. |
