Show County fair Will Be Biggest Ever The Sanpete County fair, which is to be held September 2, 3 and A. promises to be bigger and better than ever before. This is due largely large-ly to the changed policy of the new officers and board of directors, who feel that the fair, if it serves the greater interest of the county, must be more educational and more in keeping with county needs. Consequently, it is the purpose of the present management to furnish a good program at a minimum cost and to keep as much money in the county as possible. The manager has made a canvass of the county merchants and professional profes-sional men soliciting special premiums premi-ums on exhibition entries, and has met with much success. More than $1500.00 in special prizes 'have been subscribed and this amount, together togeth-er with the fair association prize money should be sufficient inducement induce-ment to get the people to take more time in grooming their livestock and to be more careful in their selection of their agricultural and other produce pro-duce for exhibition. Many people have already determined upon the nature oof their exhibit for this fair, and those who cany their plans through until fair time will bid high for the prize fund. The officers of the association feel that too much money has been leaving leav-ing the county at fair time so they have determined to exclude outside concessions and limit concessions to county people, games of chance prohibited. pro-hibited. This, we believe, will tend to not only keep the money in the county, but it will distribute it throughout the towns. Only those concessions, such as a merry-go-round, which are unavailable in the county, will be brought in from the outside. In order to encourage the keeping of good saddle and race horses throughout the county, the purses on county 'horses will be greatly increased in-creased and outside horses will be eliminated. Speed does not make the race, but the way horses arej matched is what determines the race and the interest of the spectators. We believe well-matched county horses will put over a program of races which will afford more pleas-i 1 ure and tnorougn satistaction man performances of past years. J Season tickets are to be sold at such a low figure that the citizen ! cannot afford to be without one. In previous years high priced en-! tertainers have been imported and oft-times their program has been a disappointment to the crowd. This; year the management is exercising greatest care in the selection of en- ' tertainers. The comedians of each community are being solicited, too, i for some special stunt or novel pro-; J gram. Prizes worth consideration will be offered for such entertain- ment. |
