Show SUGAR BEET GROWING MENACED Cuba, seeking persistently a reduction in United States tariff on sugar, offers as a consideration the greater purchasing power which it would then have for American products. But such a reduction would ruin the American beet sugar industry which has no access to. the cheap labor of Cuba, would destroy the business of American Ameri-can sugar beet 'growers, and eventually leave Our Country at the mercy of foreign sugar producers and speculators. Our sugar tariff tar-iff should be high enough to enable the American sugar industry to exist and maintain its own purchasing power. |
