Show FHERAL SERVICES. Over the Hody of Ei-lirulm JoIiubou, Held Saturd iv, Sept. 8. (Coin muulcated.) The funeral services over the body of Ephraim Johnson weie held in the Tabernacle, Saturday, Sept, S. ISiM. President Chtwst n presided. Ringing by the First Ward S. P. choir, ''The Lonely Mound." Prayer by Peter A. Fors-gren. Fors-gren. A duet and chorus was then snng by S. N. Lee and others, entitled, en-titled, "Who ore Those Arrayed in While." A laie and sympathetic audience was in attendance. They listened with deep attention to the various speakers who dwelt briefly on the labors and the fidelity of the deceased. The speakers were as follows: Jonah Mathias, who had known Ephraim as a neighbor a6 well as fellow laborer in the Sunday Sun-day School. John D. Peters, Superintendent of the Sabbath School of the First Ward, also spoke highly of Brother Johnson. Thomas C. Young of Three Mile Creek, was a fellow laborer in the missionary field in New Zealand. Told of the sufferings of Brother JonnauLi winle in Liiai lauU ana ul his strong desire to do his duty while there; gave a good outline of those labors. Counsellor Kelly spoke at some length on the subject of death. Read from the book of Doctrine and Covenants on the subject. Was well acquainted with Brother Johnson'slabors in connection witli the Y. M. M. I. A. President Clawson read a few verses from the Book of Mormon. Referred to the fall of our firet parents and the result which we ali are witnesses 01, but wnien win , be of benefit to all who will be as i Brother Johnson. Resolutions of condolence from the Y, M. M. I. A. were read by Willard Jensen. The choir sang. Benediction. The line of march was formed by the M. I. A. associations and Sabbath Sab-bath Schools from the Tabernacle to the cemetery. The hearse, mourners and vehicles followed. The prayer over the grave ' was offered by J. B. Mc Muster. Must-er. Thus was laid to rest one of our best young men. |
