Show Local Lions at Payson Function President Lion J. W. Jones, Secretary Secre-tary Lion Whittenburg, and Lions Hart Sanders and R. J. Parr, were among the local Lions that attended ."chdrter" night of the Lions club of v Payson, Tuesday of this week. The boys report the Payson meeting one of the most enthusiastic and one of the most successful they had attended at-tended in many years. Melvin jones, secretary general of the International Association of Lions clubs,, Chicago, Chica-go, and Dr. M. M. Nielson, district governor of Utah, were among the dignitaries present at the meeting. In addition to these, some 250 guests from Salt Lake, Ogden, Midvale, Mt. Pleasant and other clubs joined in the festivities. A big banquet, the presentation of the charter and an elaborate dance were among the many features of entertainment. Secretary Whittenburg Whitten-burg made a response to a toast and President J. W. Jones was introduced as a "songster." Few in this city knew of the sweet and silvery .notes .hat lurked within the singing repository re-pository of the president of the Gunnison Gun-nison Lions club. However, President Presi-dent Jones was equal to the emergency emer-gency and brought down the house by rendering that charming little melody "How Dry I Am." Lions Parr and Sanders did "not appear on the progi am for responses, but it is reported re-ported that they carried out their parts well at the sumptuous banquet served by the Payson Lions. |
