Show STOP, LOOK AND LISTEN There has been much discussion in recent years of how to elimate fatilities and accidents at railroad grade crossings. The popular! cry has been to build overhead or underground approaches. It has been estimated that the cost of such a proceedure would almost equal the value of the railroads. To offset the carlessness of the public, the American Steam and Electric Railways have done much educational work to show that there are 738 fatalities from June 1 to October 1, 1924, and that this was 131 less than during the corresponding period in 1923. Crossing accidents can be practically eliminated if people can, be- awakened to the fact that it is their own lives which are endangered by thier own carlessness at grade crossings. |
