Show Centerfield Man Has Close Call Centerfield, Sept. 2. C. H. Christiansen, Chris-tiansen, accompanied by his son. when returning from Marysvale, encountered en-countered much difficulty and had a close call from plunging down an embankment em-bankment which was caused by the washout in the canyon the first of the week. Mr. Christiansen had been on a visit to his daughter, Mrs. R. C. Swalberg, and was returning at night when he ran into the bad roads. Another An-other car close by gave aid to the Christiansen car and the visitors succeeded suc-ceeded in reaching their home in Centerfield Monday. Mrs. Lewis Leroy of Mt. Carmel is visiting here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. P. Jensen. ' Chas. C. Nielson is spending a week in Salt Lake, visiting with friends and relatives. B. Tally has purchased a house from Daunt Sanders in Gunnison and this week he is removing his family there. Elliott Childs will remodel the home recently vacated by B. Pally and will make it his futurue home. William G. Barton and H. E. Jensen Jen-sen of Ephraim gave a splendid educational edu-cational talk in the interests of the Snow Normal college at the sacramental sacra-mental meeting Sunday. Mr. Barton Bar-ton was accompanied by his wife and 'daughter, Miss May Barton. The latter lat-ter gave a solo, "The Hand of You," at the meeting. The Relief society held a social at the home of Christina Larsen's the first of the week. It was the annual meeting of the society, and in addition addi-tion to transacting a volume of business, busi-ness, a splendid program was given. A picnic dinner was served. Mrs. J. H. Roylance, who underwent under-went an operation at a Salt Lake hospital last Saturday, is reported as progressing splendidly. The advanced theological class of the Centerfield Sunday school entertained en-tertained the junior theologians and Sunday school officers and teachers at a social on the lawn of A. L. Fjeld-sted Fjeld-sted Thursday evening of last week. Ice cream and cake were served, and a general good time enjoyed. The public schools of Centerfield will open next Monday morning, September Sep-tember 5, in the new building completed com-pleted a few weeks ago. A splendid corps of teachers has been engaged, and it is expected the coming fall and winter term will prove one of the most succesesful years of the Center-field Center-field schools. The old building has been made into a comfortable homo for the teachers coming from outside points, and through this medium the matter of hunting up boarding places is now a past issue. Mrs. Alice Nielson, the Centerfield milliner, has just returned from an extended visit to Salt Lake. While away Mrs. Nielson purchased a splendid splen-did line of fall and winter hats, and she now has them on display at her store. |
