Show STABIITY OF OUR BANKS Soundness of our banking system Is indicated by the fact that last year there were only five insolvent national banks out of 8,019. Percentage Per-centage of failures was 0.017 per cent. Earnings have increased from $69,-9S1.810 $69,-9S1.810 in 1900 to $282,083,000 for 1920 an increase of about 400 per cent. Capitalization increased from $603,396,550 to $1,220,781,000, or about 100 per cent. Promoters are not allowed to make a profit in organization of national banks and the comptroller of currency cur-rency must be satisfied that additional banking facilities are needed in a community before a charter will be granted. These two factors undoubtedly undoubt-edly contribute to inherent soundness of our national banking system. |
