Show lllEBIililVERLWDS. A Colony of lowrtii Fiu-utcrs to Settle 0.1 rnornTV at nuvr looiloit. They Wilt Likely Purchase One Thousand Thou-sand Acres Under the Bear River Canal. Selectmen-elect Christian Olson, of Callsfort, informs us that there are favorable prospect a for the establishment of an Iowa colony on the Bear River Canal lands at Point Lookout, next spring. A colnnv of well-to-do fanners recently sold out their places in I Iowa. On their way to California, their representatives, Messrs. i James Carlson, Peter Nielson and C. Stoal, stopped off at Brigham ; and were shown the Point Lookout Look-out lands by -Mr. Olson. They were much pleased with Box Elder County prospects, but continued j on to their California destination. After reaching the Golden State, ; they were disappointed w ith the i country, w hich had been - mti- . j represented to them, and wrote! ! back that they would likely return j to Utah and settle here permanent- ! Mr. Olson says he thinks the I colony will come. In which cabo, I they will purchase 600 or 1,000; ' acres of land near Point Lookout' This will cost from $30 to 35 an acre, including water. That means a total expenditure of $30,-000 $30,-000 for the property. Solid old-time farmers like these and their families are the kind of people we want to settle the hundreds hun-dreds of thousands of acres of unoccupied un-occupied and unworked lands which can be found in Box Elder County. They will be welcomed. |
