Conditions for developing oil jn the Gunnison valley are most favorable," favor-able," has oft been expressed by the experts who have on several occasions occa-sions made exhaustive studies of the conditions here. Yet not one step towards developing one of the greatest great-est industries known to the nation, lias been made towards doing any real work in going after the oil. A close study of the oil wells that have been developed in other sections and where fortunes have been made "over night," reveals the fact that progressive progres-sive citizens were back of the project and a chance was taken to open up new 'and paying industries. The citizens of Gunnison valley will be asked soon to consider a most favorable proposition to he made by a coterie of wealthy oU men lo make a thorough test as to what values can he developed through drilling oil wells. The company, which has had experts in the valley during the past month, will ask the farmers to lease them approximately 7,500 acres of lard, and If this can be secured three rigs will at once be erected and active work in drilling for, oil will be commenced. In ask ing for the land upon which to drill for oil, the representatives assert lhat it will in no way interfere with the usual agricultural pursuits of those owning farms and that it will greatly benefit, rather than harm, die land. A provision is made, it is represented, that in t ho event no oil is developed, that the water which is 'rc to be opened up by drilling to a great depth, which is sure to follow, will be a benefit to the land on which the well is drilled. In the event oil is struck, all will be benefitted bene-fitted and the valley will have a resource re-source that will bring untold wealth to all. "It" is one of the most, inviting propositions ever offered to the farmers of the valley," said a well known business maiv, "and everyone, should cooperate in bringing wealth to the valley. The company, which wants to come in and develop the possible resources of the valley, is absolutely reliable and has an abundant abun-dant capital to carry out the work. Let us get back of the movement and encourage, rather than discourage, the possible development of oil here." |
