Show Leo Gledhill Will Seek Appointment Announcement for the open coc-petitive coc-petitive examination for the position posi-tion of postmaster at Gunnison have been received here. While the civil service commission is charged with the dtuy of testing applicants for the positions of postmasters at offices of the first, second and third classes, such positions are not classified under un-der the civil service law, being filled fill-ed nomination by the president and confirmation by the senate. However, How-ever, President Harding Is using the civil service machinery for the purpose pur-pose of selecting the nominees. Under the terms of the executive order any one of the highest three qualified eligibles for an office may be selected by the Postoffice department depart-ment for nomination by the president. presi-dent. The commission will determine deter-mine who are the highest qualified eligibles by carefully weighing the evidence it secures as to the qualifications qualifi-cations of each of the entire number num-ber of applicants for the office. The highest three will be given percentage percent-age ratings. The competition is open to all who are qualified under the terms of the announcement. The examination for candidates for the office of postmaster at Gunnison Gun-nison will be held at Ephraim, May 12. The vacancy will be created August 6th, when the time expires for the present administration. Applicants Ap-plicants for the position must submit sub-mit to the examiner on the day of examination, their photographs,, taken tak-en within two years, securely pasted in the space on the admission cards sent them after their applications are ,filed. There are regulations which will be found necessary to comply with, which will be stipulated stipulat-ed in the application blanks. Thus far there is only one candidate candi-date who has announced his intention inten-tion of seeking the appointment. Leo N. Gledhill has already started the machinery working, and he is being strongly backed by a host of warm friends. Mr. Gledhill is a native of Gunnison and he has the full qualifications. quali-fications. He served in the Spanish-American Spanish-American war during the Philippine insurrection, serving 18 months in the service. Mr. Gledhill saw one year of active service on the island and won for himself honor and credit as a soldier. |
