Edwards, prominent attorney of Gunnison, Gun-nison, was named as vice-president, R. J. Parr, manager for Max Cohen store, was chosen as secretary, and Fred H. Jones, assistant cashier for the Gunnison Valley bank, was named nam-ed treasurer, at the annual election of officers of the Gunnison Valley Development League at the regular meeting held last Thursday night. The name of the organization was changed from the Entre oNu.s club to tho Gunnison Valley Development League and a set of constitutions and by-laws adopted. Under the new name and with a set of by-laws and a constitution consistent and in keeping with some of the larger organizations throughout through-out the state, plans for big things are being mapped for the coming season. The club is affiliated with the Inter-mountain Development league, lea-gue, one of the strong organizations of Salt Lake, and more than likely the membership will be extended and others of the bigger clubs will be joined. Roads, civic improvements in the city, boosting the enterprises and industries in-dustries throughout the valley, the inviting the settler to the Great Gunnison Gun-nison Valley and giving publicity to the wonders and opportunities offered offer-ed in the valley, will be paramount among the many problems that will be taken up by the league. Shortly a membership drive is to be launched and it will be the purpose pur-pose to enlist every true blooded booster to become members of the organization. The membership has already reached near the fifty mark, and it is belived that when a thorough thor-ough canvass is made the membership member-ship will go far fast the hundred mark. At the regular meeting which is to be held next Wednesday night, standing committees will be named for the year. Officers named last week will serve the league until April, 1924, at which time new ones will be chosen. The league, under the new title, together with the real spirit of cooperation co-operation with all, starts out under the most most favorable conditions and the coming year promises big things for the clug and the valley. |
