Frank J.Cannon.the Republican Repub-lican delegate to Congress, was in Brigham, Tuesday. A torchlight procession, accompanied by two brass bands, drew a great number of people into the streets, and the opera house was full to overflowing overflow-ing uf people of all shades of political politi-cal belief. The room was handsomely hand-somely decorated. The speeches were interspersed by lively political politi-cal songs from the glee . clubs. "Hard Times" was sung. N. P. A n d e r so n was c h a i r m an of the meeting. He made a short speech, followed hy a talk from Mr, Baglty of Ogden. Cannon's appearance on the stage was greeted with loud applause. He delivered one of his characteristic polished orations ; full of eloquence, humor and pathos. He is without doubt one of the finest orators in the Territory Terri-tory of Utah- He bus made speeeh-inak'ng speeeh-inak'ng a study nnd right admirably admir-ably has he succeeded in the mastery of the art. Speeches ha ve been delivered this week by Mr. Cannon at Wiliard, Wil-iard, Honeyville, Bear River City and Corinne, where the people turned out in large numbers to heir bim. |
