Show Protest Game To Be Played Here In the league game of ball between Mt. Pleasant and Gunnison teams, when a score of 5 to 6 was made in tbe ten innings, the north Sanpeters would not content themselves with the decision made on a play by their own umpire, and as a result o a ruling rul-ing on the protest entered the game will be replayed on the Gunnison diamond, dia-mond, the date to be announced later. The play in question came in the ninth inning when the score stood 4 to 5 in favor of Mt. Pleasant. Sor-enson Sor-enson was at the hat and had accepted ac-cepted one strike. The next ball put over the plate was accepted as a strike but Sorenson missed. The ball, however, hit the home plate squarely and bounded back and over the grand stand, allowing the runners run-ners on second and third bases to come in safely. Mt. Pleasant contended that the ball was a pass one and objected to allowing the man on second to advance ad-vance farther than third, and when later Sorenson hit the ball to the field, being put out on the fly, Jones, umpiring balls' and strikes, allowed the run that caused the contention. The management of the Mt. Pleasant Pleas-ant team appealed to the officials of the league and a ruling was made that reversed that of the umpire and as result the game has been ordered replayed. |
