Show CENTERFIELD. Schools closed here last Friday, Commencement exercises for the 8th grade were held Wednesday, Supt. B. T. Reld being present for the occasion, occa-sion, A fine program was given. The entire school met for closing exercises Thursday, the exercises surpassing expectation. The affair closed with a beautiful operetta entitled "While Mortals sleep." The seventh grade on Friday night tendered a farewell testimonial for the faculty and the eighth grade pupils. A splendid program pro-gram was carried out and refreshments refresh-ments served. Zelma Theon, the 9-months infant of Mr. and Mrs. Burwell Westover " died here Saturday, May 5, of cholera infantum. Funeral was held on the 7th, from the meetinghouse. Leo C, a son of James Bendrick-sen Bendrick-sen formerly of this place, died May 7 at a Salt Lake hospital where he had been under treatment since the Uth of February for valvular heart disease. The body was brought here for burial Sunday when services were held from the meetinghouse under the direction of Bishop A. C. Field- fifcpH whn W9Q nna rf f.V) cnoalrora in connection with C. H. Embley and Nephi Anderson. Jesse Bardsley of Centerfield enlis-listed enlis-listed at Salt Lake, but came home for a couple of weeks before leaving for the training camp in California. A farewel banquet was given at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bardsley, and a dance given at the opera house for his benefit. The town authorities also remembered with a testimonial those who had volunteered previous from this place. Soren Anderson, local chairman on agricultural preparedness was busy Wednesday securing seed potatoes and treating them ready for planting. |
