Show CELEBRATION WAS ORDINARY. The program of exercises at the Cbsino for the celebraGion on the Fourth at Gunnison, held iu the forenoon, fore-noon, was exceptionally well rendered. render-ed. Young people comprised a greater great-er share of the audience and the oration by Ellis Merkley was directed iu a great measure on a line suitable totheir understanding. Miss Etta Jepson represented the goddess, attended at-tended oy Mary Francis Kearns and Merl Park. A change in the place of meeting was made from the R. S hall bowry to the Casino theatre, as well as the order of sports to precede instead of follow the ball game. A big crowd was out and seemingly all roads led to Gunnison from early iu the day notwithstanding the ordi nary program that has been so common com-mon here for a number of years past. The Casino had a special feature for the occasion and was patronized to its capacity for the evening performance. The children were given a dance in the afternoon and some refreshments besides a cut admission at the theatre matinee. |
