A lot of new subscribers were added to our list this week. Next week we hope to issue a paper which will merit the patronage of all. The aged mother of the wife of Mayor J. D. Peters died at Clifton, Idaho, last week. Relatives from Brigham were in attendance at the fu neral. Telegraph operator Moule has secured a permanent position in the U. it R. C oflice at Springvibe with G. P. Thompson, formerly of Brigham. The horse and meat wagon in charge ofCharles Erdmann enjoyed a little run-away down below Wil-lard Wil-lard last Saturday. The damage was but trilling. Monday, Win. Wrighton and J). P. Burt went to California on business busi-ness and to visit several weeks with three brothers of Mr. Wrighton, Wrigh-ton, who reside in the golden state. Sometime ago we stated that the child born in the S. L. Temple was named Moroni Temple Bennett. Selectman T. H. Blackburn, of this city, who was present at the christening, christ-ening, informs us the child was named Joseph Temple Bennett. Tuesday, a number of the members mem-bers of the V. L. M. I. A. met and surprised their president, Mrs. M. J. Snow, at her residence. She was presented with a traveling bag, lo be used on her proposed Chicago trip. A nice time generally was enjoyed by all. Monday, a number of young men from Plain City came to Brigham and surprised their school teacher of last winter, Miss Louise Ingram. After a pleasant time the yo ing men saddled their horses anp wended their way home. All bad a splendid visit. The Tabernacle services were largely attended Sunday. Prayer by Kidcr Juhn Crawford. The speakers were Apostle Lorenzo Snow, Stake President Rudger Clawson and Counsellor Adolphus Madson. Benediction by Patriarch Samuel Smith. We return thanks to Prof. N. L. Nelson for a copy of Specimen Compositions selected from the World's Fair exhibit of the B. V. A., Provo, Utah. This neat little pamphlet is very interesting, showing show-ing as it does tho natural ability and careful teaching of the pupils uf that institution. C. M. Spuires, builder and contractor, con-tractor, now of Mnlad City, has a caid among our professional cards today. Mr. Squires is so well-known well-known and respected in this city that recommendations of any kind are wholly unnecessary. Mr. Squires expects to settle in Brigham Brig-ham permanently soon. The bar association at Ogden is now vigorously investipat ing charges brought against Kiev Jones and others for dishonest and unprofessional unpro-fessional conduct in several recent law suits. The charges are serious and if found to he true the said Jones will be dishonorably discharged dis-charged from the profession. The 0. E. Miller Co., doctors, Salt Lake City, whose ad has been running in The Biioli-u the last month, have concluded that it' is to their advantage to lengthen their monthly contract into a yearly advertisement. All enterprising business men are firm believers in advertising in good mediums. |
