Show Sanpete County's New Sugar Factory W. G. Stringham, secretary of the People's Sugar company is now spending spend-ing most of his time in Sanpete county coun-ty in the interest of the new sugar factory near Moroni. He reports material ma-terial progress being made and that the principal sugar machinery with the battery of boilers has already-been already-been ordered, thus assuring the completion com-pletion of the factory on time. Geo. McGonagle, at one time citv engineer for Salt Lake City, spent the entire past week at the factory site laying out the buildings and trackage and otherwise making preparations for actual buiding operations. Grading for the railway tracks into the grounds started last Monday and as soon as the track can be laid building material and equipment will begin to arrive and the work kept going until completion. On Wednesday of last week A. P. Cooper, sugar engineer and expert, came down from Salt Lake to inspect the work done, and, after going over matters thoroughly, enthusiastically declared that although he had supervised super-vised the building of nine sugar factories fac-tories he never yet had visited a site that was so well and favorably located loca-ted for economy in construction and operation as the site of the People's Sugar company near Moroni. Mr. Cooper is associated with James Stewart Stew-art & Co., who have the contract for building the Moroni factory. He has direct charge of the work. In speaking of the stock in thecom-pany thecom-pany Mr. Stringham states that from present indications the stock will all be subscribed before the 1st of the year and possibly by the 20th of the present month. We call attention to the announcement announce-ment of the company elsewere in this issue of The Gazette, in which beet acreage from the people of Gunnison valley is solicited. Arrangements can be made for signing beet contracts with E. L. Swalberg of Gunnison. |
