Show Many of the friends of Mrs. C. N. Jensen gathered at her home Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon to commemorate her birthday. It was a most pleasant pleas-ant gathering and an afternoon, of cards and other amusements was highly enjoyed. Mrs. Collett expects to spend the major portion of the summer with friends and relatives at the cap itol city. S. K. Roper, proprietor of the Casino Ca-sino confectionery store, accompanied accompani-ed by Mrs. Roper and. the children, have returned from a week's visit to Salt Lake. The Ropers were combining com-bining business witii pleasure. Miss Rilla Kearns, in the army hospital nursing corps for the past year and a half at San Francisco, is here as the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Kearns. Miss Kearns is taking a well earned vacation and will not return to the coast until about August first. Leland Pace, well known here and who has just returned from "over seas," arrived in Gunnison last Saturday. Sat-urday. He expects to be here indefinitely indefi-nitely visiting with his parents. Mr. Pace joined the 144th Infantry at Farmington in June, 1918, shortly after going to France. Local and Personal Howard. Norman of Richfield was among the "rooters" for the Richfield Rich-field team at the game in Gunnison last Sunday. Marius Jensen, the miller, and Mrs. Jensen, have returned after an absence of several days visiting in Salt Lake City. ., . Miss Alta Jensen of Salt Lake City is the guest of Miss'Lucile Sorenson. She will be here until after the Fourth of July celebration. Guy ' Lewis and M. C. Nielson, bankers from Richfield, attended the Gunnison-Richfield ball game on the local diamond last Sunday. Mrs. M. E. Cody of Butte, Mont., is in Gunnison as the guest of relatives rela-tives and friends. Mrs. Cody expects to spend the summer here. Miss Hannah Christensen has. gone to Provo for a brief visit to relatives and friends. She will return to her home in Gunnison the first of the coming week. J. E. Rasmussen, wife and children, chil-dren, just returning from an outing at Fish Lake, spent the first of the week in Gunnison as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rasmussen. Mrs. F. Gerald Thomas, a sister to Mrs. J. W. Jones, is here from Salt Lake. Mrs. Thomas will be the guest at the home of .Mr. and Mrs. Jones until the end of the week. Miss Vio Sorenson had as her guest for the past week, Mrs. M. E. Duncan and daughter, Miss Jess Duncan of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Duncan Dun-can and daughter returned to their home last Tuesday. O. B. Berglund, ' president of the Gunnison Valley Bank, motored to Salt Lake last Friday morning. Mr. Berglund will be absent a week or I'more looking after business matters. He may make a trip to Nevada, going to Reno, before returning to Gunnison. Gunni-son. W. S. Porter, brother to Water Commissioner E. A. Porter, left the first of the week for his home in Reno, after a short visit to the home of his brother. W. S. Porter just re- |
