Show PLAY SERIES FOR $500 PURSE As a result of the outcome of last Sunday's game of ball between the Fairview and Gunnison teams, when the Cyclones-met defeat with a score of 9 to 15, rivalry as to which team is the best has cropped out and to decide de-cide the question a series of three games are to be played for a purse of $.r)00. The money has already been posted and the schedule for the games announced. The first game is to be played on the 'Fairview diamond dia-mond tomorrow and the second will be pulled off on the Gunnison diamond dia-mond on Wednesday, September 3rd. The Manti diamond has been chose, as the place for the third game and the date has been fixed for Saturday, September 6. Already the two trams have played play-ed three games with Fairview capturing cap-turing two. The game Sunday, however, how-ever, was weak and the Gunnison boys were only playing with about fifty per cent efficiency. Both Lee and Dick Pace were out of the game and with the re-arrangement of both the in and out fields, the team was greatly weakened. The locals gave the visitors a "rub" and had it not been for errors in the eighth the tale would have been different. Fair-view Fair-view had a lead of seven runs at the opening of the seventh. The Cyclones Cy-clones awakened and in their half of the seventh reduced the lead to two runs. In the eighth, though, and through an overthrow on the part of Sorenson, playing second for Gunnison, Gunni-son, the "air castle" busied and the visitors passed four more safe runs across the home plate. One of the most clever, plays seen on the local diamond this year was pulled off by Ernest Halverson. He landed on third base and when the opportune time came, he, while the Fairview pitcher was winding up. made a dash and safely stole home, base. The coming contest between the two teams has already been "noised" about the county and it promises to be one of the biggest drawing cards of the season. Plans are being made to entertain' i record crowd in Gunnison next Wednesday and in order that everyone every-one may see the game all the stores in Gunnison will close promptly at 4 o'clock. Scries With Salina. Unfortunate Salina, with four defeats de-feats from Gunnison this season, is after revenge and Manager Jones, for the home team, states that ;. series of three games have been arranged ar-ranged for the Sevier county boys. The series is to open at Salina on Sunday, September 7. The second jame will be played at Gunni, t on September 14, and the third 'i be played at Manti, the date to be announced an-nounced later. Gunnison in Tournament. The Gunnison team will enter the jail tournament which will be played play-ed at Manti during the Sanpete County Fair in September. Several big prizes have been posted for the county clubs and Gunnison will go after the money. Playing Ephraim Today.
