Peterson 80 I ; At Centerfield yesterday, right of way wasxonceded to the Old Folks organization there. It was their thirteenth annual reunion and one of the largest attended since the custom was inaugurated in this ward, the committee having 122 guests in charge ranging in ages from 50 to 88. The names of those from 80 up are given at the head of this account, the oldest man, Niels C. Tollestrup, and tbe.old-est tbe.old-est woman, Mrs. P. O.! Hansen, whose husband figured prominently in thj first missionary promulgation of the Mormon church in Scandinavia, were; each the recipient of a prize. !' From one o'clock in the afternoon until past the midnight hour Was one continuous round of enjoyment. A short program, in which George E. Bench of Manti, chairman of the stake Old Folks organisation gave an interesting talk ., in the line of reminiscences, was followed by a play "That Rascal, Pat," which the guests seemed to enjoy immensely. .ao unis suage Lne young lauies uis-tributed uis-tributed the badges to be worn, designating desig-nating by color of ribbon the respective respect-ive ages of the invited guests. It was just a little past 4 o'clock when the first tables were ready and the eldest of the guests seated at the banquet. Three sittings were necessary neces-sary to accommodate all, but there was no lack of entertainment for those in waiting, good music being at hand to provide for enjoyment in the dance. A brass band was present and discoursed dis-coursed sweet selections during the afternoon. -All were served at the tables again during the evening dance, and the doings went off most splendidly. The main hall was set off with a mass of decorations in national colors, the evening effect being enhanced by a mixture of colored electric lights. The dining room was also made attractive at-tractive by decorations, while everything every-thing was done to make the guests happy, even to conveying by auto those who were feeble or resided long distances away. The committees all deserve praise for their successful effort, not least to merit commendation being the staff of cooks and waiters. Those who were instrumental in providing so well for the Old Folks of Centerfield yesterday were: Chris A.Petersen, chairman; George Peterson, Andrew Bogh, Soren Anderson, An-derson, Hans Hansen, NinaPeterson, Lizzie Bogh, Stina Anderson, Emma Hansen, Mary Petersen. |
