Show RUSS SWEAR TO EXPEL ENEMY. Patriotic Spirit Pervades Congress of Delegates from Army. Petrograd.The congress of delegates dele-gates from the armies opened at Minsk on April 22, and is being attended by more than 1200 representatives of the soldiers and officers and workers engaged en-gaged in national defense work. M. Rodzianko, president of the duma, and Minister of War Guchkoff were present. pres-ent. M. Posener, president of the conference, confer-ence, said the congress symbolized the close union between the military and civilian elements of the new Russia and the perfect agreement between those at the front and those behind the battle lines. A private soldier named Sorokoletoff was elected vice president. On mounting mount-ing the tribune in his field uniform and armed with a rifle, he was received re-ceived with a storm of cheers. M. Rodzianko said he was glad to be able to say that no return to the past was possible. Such, he said, was the settled determination of the Russian Rus-sian people. "Do not forget," the president of the duma declared, "that great liberty entails en-tails great obligations toward the country. Do not forget that the country coun-try is in danger. I know now that the western front is indestructible in its fighting power and I will joyfully tell this to the people behind the lines." Rodzianko concluded by declaring : "We believe you are trying to drive the enemy out of Russia." The assembly responded by shouting: shout-ing: "We swear it." |
