Show Regulations For Retail Stores Announcement has been nude by the Commercial Economy board for Utah, of a state wide retail store closing clos-ing regulation. By this regulation all retail stores throughout the stale will close at six o'clock on the first live days of the week and at nine o'clock on Saturdays and pre holidays. All stores will remain closed on Sundays Sun-days and all legal holidays. In a statement announcing the regulations re-gulations Commissioner W. F. Jensen Jen-sen explains that aTormer plan of the department in fixing closing rules for the different localities was found Impractical Im-practical and that thereupon the state-wide rule was determined upon. Several exceptions to the general closing regulation have been made. These .provide thatcigars and tobacco, fresh fruits, candy, ice cream, solt drinks and newspapers and periodicals may be sold by stores after the regular regu-lar hours and on holidays and Sunday s if they care to remain open. Another exception provides for the sale of gasoline and automobile ac-cassorles ac-cassorles in emergency cases to doctors, doc-tors, ambulances, ponce and health departments and to tourists Mr., Jensen's statement says that If the pleasure car drivers of the state will save an average of three miles per day the annual saving in the state will be 22,000,000 miles or more than $800,000. The regulations are undei-stood undei-stood to have the complete sanction and backing of the state officials. I |
