Show INAUGURATE BLOCKADE. t Allies to Prohibit Commercial Intercourse Inter-course With Germany. Washington. All commercial intercourse inter-course by sea between Germany and the outside world was declared-prohibited by Great Britain and France on Monday. Identical notes presented by the French and British ambassadors here informed the United States government gov-ernment of this drastic step 'by the allies in reply to Germany's war zone proclamation. If this policy is enforced it will no longer be possible to ship cotton, manufactured articles and commodities commodi-ties hitherto of a noncontraband character char-acter from the United States to Germany, Ger-many, directly or indirectly, and from the latter country the supply of dye-stuffs dye-stuffs and other merchandise for consumption con-sumption In this country will be cut off. |
