Show FAYETTE. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Mellor used the opportunity of conference rates for a visit to relatives in Salt Lake City, going on the 8th. Mrs. Willie Mellor is visiting relatives rela-tives in Sunnyside' Mrs, Mary K. Metcalf of Oregon and two of her daughters, Mrs. W, Stringham and Mrs. Liliia Fisher, also al-so of Oregon, are visiting relatives in Fayette. Mrs." Metcalf is a daughter of Mrs. Polly Bartholomew, the oldest old-est resident of Fayette and a pioneer from Nauvoo. She is a sister of Bishop Bartholomew and has many relatives here as well as in Gunnison. Mrs. EttaJT. Bean, is here visiting her mother, Mrs. A. A. Palmer. Thursday morniny October 6, the Y, L. M. Improvement association gave a public ball that will ba long remembered. The dancers assembled were in costumes of the '50s, making an effect that was unique and interesting, inter-esting, and all had a general good time. The Parents class of Fayette Suu-day Suu-day school held a meeting on Saturday Satur-day evening, October 8. Mrs. Harriet M. Earl gave an interesting talk, dismissing dis-missing the topic "Home as a help to the school." The most prominent feature, however, was a solo by Miss Emily Larson of Gunnison. It is oot often a small plaoe like I? ayette enjoys en-joys such a treat. The highest appreciation ap-preciation was expressed on every hand. This is the second week of school year and citizens of Fayette have shown their interest by visiting the classes. Among the visitors was one of the School board, C. L. Anderson. The reports of the school are encouraging. en-couraging. One of the visitors made special mention of an exercise given in mental arithmetic, most cleverly conducted in Principal Bardsley's department. There was also noted in Miss ChristenBon's department a game so manipulated as to bring out correct expression, development of the child's social instinct as well as to furnish him rest and recreation. |
