Show Politics Locally. U. S. Senator George Sutherlund spoke tt a -republican rally held in I the opera-house Monday evening. His talk was partly directed in defence de-fence of protection and the present tarrifi measure. But he dwelt principally, prin-cipally, on the prohibition question, defending his party's exposition of that policy as against the state-wide declaration of the opposing party. The ssnator summarized with the assertion that his party stood for protection and prosperity, whilst the democratic party was for panic and poverty, - W. ;D. Livingston and T. F. j Kearns, candidates from this county on the repulican ticket for the legis-ture legis-ture spoke to the people of Fayette last Tuesday evening. A feature of their talk was a pledge to work in be-ha'lf be-ha'lf of state-wide prohibition if elected. Judge Ferdinand Erickson, democratic demo-cratic nominee for congressman, is announced to speak at a democratic rally in the opera house next Monday evening.. |
