Show FRENCH STRIKE IS SETTLED Firmness of Government and Partial Concessions of Employers Ends Struggle of Railway Employes. Paris. The strike committee of the railroaders' union at a meeting Monday Mon-day night formally called off the strike of the railroad employees which has extended over several of Jhe. most important systems in France. Work will be resumed on all lines immediately. The collapse of the strike was primarily pri-marily due to the stringent measures taken by Premier Briund, who called to the colors the majority of the srrik-ers, srrik-ers, thus eornpellng them to do setv-ice setv-ice as reserves. According to the police these out rages were planned by anarchists and fighting revolulionists who hoped tc take advantage of the strike agitatior to terrorize the people. The press in France, with the ex ception of certain revolutionary or ganizations, were opposed to the strike and supported Premier Briand in the settlement of a serious eco aomic and social crisis. |
