Show Hog Without Food 32 Days. Mason City, la. Cats may have nine lives, but it takes a pig to establish a record that almost equals the record of the famous Tanner, who lived 40 days without food. In the big blizzard of January 29 the hog disappeared and it was thought that it had gone the way of several other hogs which George K. Smith owned. They were frozen to death. A few days ago Mr. Jeremeier, who rents the farm, was attracted to the side of his haystack by the bark-.ing bark-.ing of his dog. When he arrived he could faintly hear the squealing of a hog. There was about five feet of j snow piled up against the stack, and immediately Mr. Jeremier went to work and dug down. Where he found a real live hog, the one he had given up as dead. It had lived 32 days without food or water and was a pretty lively hog when it was dug out. |
