Show South Sanpete Stake Conference. The regular quarterly conference of the South Sanpete stake convened at Gunnison last Saturday and Sunday. Of the general authorities visiting were President Anthon H. Lund, Apostle David O. McKay and President Presi-dent Eulon S. Wells. Prof. E. S. Ilinkley of the B. Y- A., Provo, R. P. Young and John Christensen of the Sevier stake presidency, and Bishop Heber C. Christensen of Richfield were also visitors. Nearly 1,200 people peo-ple attended the afternoon session on Sunday and the conference was conceded con-ceded to be one of the most interesting interest-ing ever held in the stake. In connection with the conference were conventions of the Mutual Improvement Im-provement associations and the Primary association, necessitating quite an array of officers to represen t these auxilaries of the church Early morning and the two evening sessions were devoted to these organizations, while the Primary association also held other extra sessions and had a line exhibit of handy-work at the school building. Mrs. Ella S.Capener and Miss Sarah Richards were present from Salt Lake and made addresses during the conference on behalf of the auxiliaries mentioned. Conferen ce began with the afternoon after-noon session on Saturday, and was followed by two sessions on Sunday, President Lewis Anderson presiding. Necessity of Divine Authority, educational edu-cational advantages offered by the church school, standard of spirituality spirituali-ty as a test of Mormon sincerity, deprecation of Sabbath breaking, and the work to be pursued in the auxili-ries auxili-ries were all opportune subjects treated by the general authorities and visiting officers, under inspiring influence and with apparent effective ness. The weather was most delightful, a condition that met admirably the circumstance of gathering for services under a bowery covering of greens, which was commenced on with much favor by all. The occasion proved one of rejoicing, while intense interest was maintained until the closing session ses-sion of the Mutual, held Sunday evening. even-ing. Conference adjourned for three months, to convene at Ephraim. |
