Show First President of Panama Dies After Lingering Illness. Panama. Mamuel Amador, the first : president of the republic of Panama. J died on May 2, after a lingering ill-j ill-j ness. He was 75 years of age. Manuel Amador was one of the prime movers in the revolution in 1903 against Colombia, Co-lombia, which led to the independence of Panama. He was born at Cartagena Carta-gena and early in life engaged in commercial com-mercial business. Later he began the practice of medicine, finally becoming one of the emineut physicians of the country. IK |
