Show TIMBER CASES DISMISSED. Charges of Land Frauds in Idaho Fall Flat. Washington. Attorney General Wickersham has directed the dismissal, dis-missal, as to the persons against whom it is still pending, of the indictment indict-ment secured by the former United States district attorney for Idaho, Norman Nor-man R. Ruick, against Senator Borah, members of the Barber Lumber company com-pany and others for conspiring to defraud de-fraud the United States of certain timber tim-ber lands in Boise county, Idaho. Senator Borah made no technical objection to the indictment, but stood trial and was acquitted. John I. Wells and Patrick Downs, two of the other defendants, filed pleas in abatement to the indictment based on the al leged improper conduct of Ruick be fore the grand jury in urging the re turn of the indictment. |
