You see. her beau kep' comln' round Till nearly every evenin' found Him sittin' in th' parlor here With sis all dressed up, sittin' near An' I'd talk with 'em till they said 'Twas time fer boys to be in bed. Well, Mister Brown he never said A thing about if they should wed, An' pa he kicked 'most every night About th' big bills for th' light. An' ma she vowed that in her day Th' men knowed how to say their say. O' course, though, sis she couldn't speak To Mister Brown that would be cheek! It would be hfntin', too. you know, Fer her to nienshun it. an' so Las' night I up an' ast him this: "Say, do you want to marry sis?" Well, he got red. an' sis did, too An' then he said: "You bet I do If she'll have me!" An' sis said She'd tell him wlwn I'd gone to bed. They say I hinted then: but still My pa gave me a dollar bill! |
