Show WASHINGTON, SCHOOL NOTES. (By Carlyle Gledhlll.) The enrollment for the first day of school in tbe various schools of the district is 478 as follows : Washington, Washing-ton, 2S5; Lincoln, 177; Grant, 36. This is a gratifying increase over that of last year. The several teachers are now delving with decided interest into their work, which means success for them in their teaching profession. The permanent organization of the 8th grade will take place next Monday. Mon-day. In this grade tbeie is an enrollment en-rollment of twenty-two, with some who will enroll in the near future. Tha athletic association will be organized during the coming week. Never before in the history of the school have we had such bright prospects for a successful year in atheletics. Because of the recent h're which destroyed the local opera house, where heretofore we held our basketball basket-ball games, we will probably be necessitated to go out to Centerfield to hold our games for the present. Kenneth Williams, who last year studied vocal music under Prof, John T, Hand, will instruct the upper classes in that art for the school year |
