Show Tub hecent ceremony at the Liberal Arts Building at Chicago was a splendid affair. It is estimated esti-mated that 100,000 people were ( present, the largest assembly, probably, prob-ably, ever brought together under one roof in the history of the world. If every part of the building build-ing were occupied, and if we were to allow a superficial area of 3 feet for each person, no less than 400,-000 400,-000 people can be brought together. We are told of Roman ampitheaters that they were large enough to seat 250,000 spectators; but these edifices edi-fices were not roofed over, and the construction easy and simple, as compared with this great palace of today. |
