Show TO ABANDON MILITARY POSTS General Wood Declares That Secretary Secre-tary of War Intends to Abolish at Least Four Posts in Northwest. Washington. At least four and possibly pos-sibly six military posts in the northwest north-west are to be abolished in the near future by order of the secretary of war was asserted Monday by General Leonard Wood, chief of staff, before the house committee on expenditures in the war department. The posts to be abandoned are the smaller ones, and the present investigation investi-gation exempts brigade and regimental regimen-tal and recruiting stations. This Is the first step in the policy leading ultimately to the concentration of the army in a few large posts located on trancontinental lines convenient for quick mobilization. While the order is expected during the present summer, the abandonment of posts will not occur until troops are to be moved to Panama and Hawaii. Ha-waii. WJien eight or ten regiments are sent to Panama and Hawaii they will be taken as far as possible from the posts to be abandoned and the secretary of war will ask congress for permission to sell the grounds and mm GEN.
