Never before has a special election been so strenously fought in this city. The "wets" had two automobiles at their command, besides several buggies bug-gies and ad-iiiaistratiou backing From necessity, the "drjs" met the situatiou less ostentatiously and won out against great odds, Gunnison being be-ing considered the stronghold for "wetB" in Souta Sanpete. The losing side undoubtedly reduced re-duced the majirity vot of their opponents op-ponents nearly one hundred, by springing a canard, on the eve of election day1 The trick counted thirty seveu Bhrt of its purpose, and on October 1st next the legal dispensing dis-pensing of liquors for beverage purpose pur-pose will be a thing of the past in GuDnison. |
