Show v r r r FOURTH LIBERTY LOAN. DRIVE for the Fourth Liberty Loan begins today and Utah is asked to purchase as her quota bonds to the amount of $18,-570,800. $18,-570,800. That her people will do so is beyond question as she has done in the past with every other call that has been made upon her. It is the intent of the managers of the loan in Utah to complete the work within a week. Monday the big parade to accele ate the move for subscriptions will occur. It gives promise of being the greatest civic parade ever held in Salt Lake. Final preparations for the big blow at Kaiserism were completed in Washington on Wednesday. President Wilson launched the drive in New York with an address which he delivered last evening. Treasury Treas-ury department officials took cognizance of widespread reports that no subscriptions of less than $200 would be accepted for the fourth loan and that no $50 bonds would be issued. As proving the falsity of these rumors, officials pointed to the fact that a larger proportion of $50 bonds hae been printed this time than ever before and to the ad1 ditional fact that'loon committees have instructions to make strong efforts to sell these "baby bonds" to persons of very small means. The head of the Republican National committee has issued an address ad-dress directed to every state, district and country chairmen and all Republican workers saying that "the success of the Fourth Liberty f Loan shall be the Republican party's supreme motif of thought and f action until that objective is attained." He pledged the Republican j party workers to the policy of "no geography, political or physical, in the patriotism of this country." Says Mr. Hayes: "To Republican state chairmen, district chairmen, county chairmen chair-men and all Republican workers : "The mission of America is about to be accomplished. "American soldiers in France are at this moment demonstrating to the world the reason for America and the stuff of which the republic repub-lic is made. "Their complete success and the consequent eternal establishment establish-ment everywhere in the world of the integrity of American rights, interests in-terests and honor and the right of men to govern themselves, are all assured with the proper performance of the plainest duty of the citizenry citi-zenry at home. "The Fourth Liberty Loan is our next objective. "There is no geography, political or physical, in the patriotism of this country. Democrats and Republicans alike love their flag and are ready to die for it. We continually insist for all parties that the war be kept out of partisan politics and that partisanship be kept out of the war. "Just as in Congress the Republicans led the fight that made possible the passage of the great war measures, so now the party membership and organization has an immediate definite war task in the accomplishment of which it can fully function I repeat, let there be no contest in this country as to anything that touches the war except ex-cept that contest who best can serve, who most can give. "The success of the Fourth Liberty Loan shall be the Republican party's supreme motive of thought and action until that objective is attained. "Wherever Republicans are together, by two or two thousand, it shall be a win the war meeting. Just as the Republican party's every action at all times has been and shall be determined solely by how we can contribute most to the war's success, so now our every thought and action shall be determined entirely by how we can make certain the quick oversubscription of the Fourth Liberty Loan. "This is a united country's next message to Germany. j "The entire Republican organization in every voting precinct in this country shall be a fighting force in this Liberty Loan drive. "This is the Republican organization's business. I "This is the real business of every man, woman and child in America. "Everything else is chores." t -J k il |
