Show PLAY BALL Weather permitting, and the predictions are that it will permit, the baseball season of 1914, which from the outlook is destined to bo the most successful ever experienced here, will begin on Tuesday next, Salt Lake playing Butte at Lucas field and Murray going to Ogden for its initial' appearance in the league games. The fans are on tiptoes in anticipation anu are happy to know that there will bo practically continuous ball here all summer, the majority oi the games taking place in town and the others in Murray, which is really just part of Salt Lake. Both Salt Lake and Murray have demonstrated their fitness for some great work in their performances per-formances with outside teams, during the past month; Ducky Holmes says he has the best team Butte has even seen; Jensen claims the same for Boise, and it looks very much as though we were destined to be treated with some very high-class baseball. A big crowd will be in attendance at the opening and it is to be hoped that the interest will increase as the season progrebses and warm weather comes on until every day's attendance at the ball park looks like Sunday's. Wise ones are already predicting a battle royal for the pennant between Cliff 'Blankenship's Murray Mur-ray smelts and Herb Hester's Salt Lake movies. |
