Remained in California and Nevada until 1872, when he settled at Spring City, Sanpete San-pete county, Utah, where he has lived ever since. Has been engaged in farming and mining; was admitted to tho bar in 1877. Was probate judge of Sanpete county for eight years; served two terms as prosecuting attorney at-torney for Sanpete county; waa elected elect-ed to the 'territorial1 legislature ' of Utah for the years 1893-1894. Was elected and served two terms (nine years) as judge of tho district court of the Seventh judicial district of tho state, and has held many other minor min-or offices in Sanpete county. Has been actively engaged in the practice of law when not on the bench, and is identified with and interested In many of tho industrial Institutions of the atate. He was a dologato to tho national Republican convention held at Chicago in Juno last. lias always been a consistent Republican. Ho enjoys a largo practice In his profession, and is well and favorably known by a large portion of the Inhabitants In-habitants of the state, and Is identified identi-fied with their interests. By virtue of his practical experience as a farmer and miner, his office duties du-ties as district judge, where he was called upon to determine many Intricate Intri-cate questions concerning water rights and of his extensive experience as a lawyer, he has come to bo recognized as a reliable authority upon the law and practice of irrigation and water rights.
