Show Third Ward Fire. Assessor D. P. Burt's home and out houses barely escaped fiery destruction des-truction Wednesday afternoon. A lot of dry weeds had been burned and the smouldering embers thought to have been plowed under. But a stiff breeze arose; fanned the coals into flames and the fire spread ana gained threatening proportions before it was discovered. Several ladies, who first saw it, were about to despair of saving the place, when some men arrived and the fire was quenched. The damages are slight. |
