Show FRUIT GROWERS DISCUSS PLANS favor cooperative organizations for marketing Marli eting of fruits and vegetables last saturday at 2 p in at the county court house the vegetable and fruit growers ot of box elder county met tor for the purpose ot of discussing plans whereby they might organize the fruit and vegetable growers ot of the county into a cooperative marketing association for many years the fruit growers especially ot of this county have suffered great loss because of 0 the methods they have had in marketing their crops it if these plans can be worked out successfully it is hoped that every farmer who Is growing these crops will become a member of the association and the entire crop will be marketed through one head some sixty farmers were in in attendance and a very great interest was shown in the discussion president A W hansen of the county farm bureau presided and the following outside out side people were the main speakers L R hart of the federated fruit and vegetable growers association spanish fork frank D atwood man aega ot of the pleasant grove cooperative marketing association and V al tompkins representative of the D R G western railroad company the speakers all spoke very strongly in favor of cooperative organizations among the farmers tor for marketing their fruit vegetables and other products ot of the farm atwood and mcgarry stated that most ot of the fruit ot of their districts was marketed through the federated fruit and vegetable growers inc they stated that through a very strong marketing institution ution such as this it if the farmers were properly organized so as to control their crop that they could count on en getting the market price tor for their products they advised the necessity alt part ot of the state as well as utah utah aid and salt lake counties of 0 being organized so as to control the output out put and not bid against each other by motion ot of the house a commatee comm itee ot of nine consisting ot of the following J A ward john T woodland weber perry milton thorn john P christensen Chrls james jensen neph valentine A tolman and geo B wintle were appointed to work out a set ot of bylaws by laws and plans prior to the organizing ot of the fruit growers M S winder secretary ot of the utah state farm bureau was also in attendance tenda uce and spoke strongly of the farmers organizing themselves to handle their own business the meeting was adjourned until 10 a m next saturday december every fruit and vegetable grower in the county is cordially invited and urged to be present at this meeting |
