Show WAR IWAR VETERANS BONUSES URGED many Advant advantages ap es of such action are obvious and important to dependents in case of death veterans of tile the world war who have not submitted applications tor for their bonuses are urged by major general robert C davis tile tho adjutant general ot of the army to do r co 0 at it once in a statement directed to all veterans ot of the world war general davis says pays it if you intend to apply virtually tor for adjusted compensation please submit suba it an application at once go to the nearest recruiting or other army station or any navy marine corps or veterans bureau agency tor for assistance many advantages ot of such action are obvious but most important ot of these Is the protection given your dependents in case ot of death it if you have no desire to avail yourself of 0 the benefit of 0 the act notify the war department to that effect it you yon are pas one of the veterans who have not corrected and returned their applications please do not delay the necessary action any longer the war department at present has a special cler cial force of approximately 2500 specially trained clerks whose sole duties are to handle applications tor for compensation this force 1 Is capable of completing applications daily at present only about applications are received which Is less than one third the capacity of the clerical force for reasons of economy and also in order to give the veterans their protection tor for their dependents pen dents at as early a date as possible it is desired that all who have not already applied tor for the bonus do so immediately of the four our and a halt million veterans entitled to the bonus less than have applied for or it the applications of 0 veterans which were returned tor for correction ol of errors have not been received back at the war department more than one halt of the applications requiring correction were returned because the applicants had forgotten to sign them applications have been examinations ami nations by the war department and one million certificates have been completed and transmitted to the united states veterans bureau the importance of applying tor for compensation at the earliest possible date is urged upon the veterans by general davis who states the war department Is daily receiving cases in which veterans who thought themselves in the best of health avae died or have been killed by accident without having submitted their applications for adjusted compensation their widows and children many of them in needy circumstances receive in such cases cash to the amount of the adjusted service credit an amount equal to approximately one third only of that lie he would have received in one payment in cash casl rhad had the veteran made application prior to death for instance should a veteran who served overseas tor for a period entitling him to the tae maximum amount ot of adjusted service credit of 0 die without tiling filing his appIa cat his widow children or other dependent within the restricted class will receive that amount only in ten quarterly installments while it he files his application prior to his death the widow children or dependents will receive approximately 1530 in one payment in cash another reason why the veteran should file his application promptly is that the face ace value of the insurance certificate furnished him is dependent upon his age at the time of filing his application the amount decreasing as his age increases delay in filing his application may place the veteran in another insurance year which reduces the amount which he may receive cash payments under the act become due on march 1 1925 and payment will be delayed aniess unless the veteran applies a sufficient time in advance of 0 that date to enable the W war a r department to properly pass on tile the application and transmit it to the veterans bureau to afford every possible facility to the veterans in obtaining the bonus the war department is utilizing all of its agencies including the national guard and organized reserves in cooperation with those of 0 the navy navys marine corps and veterans bureau ins instructions have been issued to corps area recruiting stations substation pots and camp to afford every facility at hand to the veterans and to aid and advise them in obtaining and executing their applications |
