Show Improve the Roads. The resorts are all crowded in tho near vicinity vicin-ity of Salt Lake. On Sundays especially this Is most observable. The first thought that comes to the looker on is that those now in use .will have to bo enlarged or new ones added. This last proposition Involves tho making of better roads out of tho city. The county and tho poople within fifteen or twenty miles of this city are losing lots of money because they have not better bet-ter roads. Ten years ago a place eight miles out O of tho city was distant an hour's ride with a good team. Now a place eight miles out of town lb only a quarter of a mile away with a good automobile au-tomobile and there were more than sixty automobiles auto-mobiles entered In the races two weeks ago. Then those races resulted in the determination to order at least a dozen more automobiles. There are more than 200 machines here now; there will be more than 300 a year from today. Los Angeles which is perhaps five times as large as this city, has 5,500 automobiles. There would bo many more hero If there wore good roads convenient .-' W to tho city on which to run them. There ought to HI bo tho roads. It would be monoy in the pockets ( -jBI of the county to make them. Then they would bo a boon to the farmers that bring their products here. If the county Is too poor, let it issue bonds and charge toll on the roads. Good roads are civillzers. This county needs them. |
