Show THE RAWHIDE DISTRITCT. By H. Ht Hunter. The Rawhide district as a whole is in my judgment a district of greater possibilities than any other discovered in the State of Nevada since the Comstock days. For a distance of at least five miles long and four miles wide are many excellent ex-cellent showings, and in almost every instance development has proven permanency and increased in-creased values. The exceedingly rich discoveries made within the past three months, which have created a city of hustlers from a few tens, are but the forerunner, under the active development that is now assured, of many more covering tho entire district. The veins are true fissures, in many instances showing a secondary mineralization mineraliza-tion of vein fill that is the richest material. This is particularly true in the Murray lease. The Drew ground, now owned and controlled by the Rawhide , Mining and Reduction company, is known to contain at least 10 separate and distinct leads carrying good milling values, and on several sev-eral of the leases shipping ore has been developed. Like nearly every other Nevada camp, Rawhide is being largely developed by leasers, who have in every case been granted the most liberal terms by the mine owners, the leasers as a rule running for a term of two years. The Grutt Brothers and Cal Dunning, who control some of the richest properties In the district, are broad-gauge miners and business men, and will undoubtedly continue their policy, which should prove an important factor in making mak-ing the camp a record-breaker. A distance not exceeding four miles an abundance abund-ance of water can be had for the economical reduction re-duction of ores by the milling process, or should smelters be decided on later, to the north and south of the Rawhide belt proper there are large deposits of lead-silver, copper and iron ores, insuring in-suring all the necessary fluxes for reduction by the smelting process. The cost of living Is exceedingly reasonable and will probably continue so until the advent of the railroads. Summing it all up, geological conditions are right for deep mines, the ore values are there, and only powder, pick, steel and man's energy are needed to prove the future of the district. I believe be-lieve Rawhide Is on the map of Nevada to stay and that district will prove a record-breaker in 1 the production of gold. |
