Show livestock in utah Is safe e there is virtually no danger that livestock in this state will become affected with the foot and mouth disease in the opinion of veterinarians present at the annual meeting of the utah veterinary medical association held at the capitol yesterday dr A J webb state veterinarian discussed the subject he said that the disease has apparently been eradicated in california and that there is little likelihood of its being transferred to utah from texas where an am outbreak occurred a few days ago I 1 need of a more intensive campaign against tuberculosis in cattle was ested at yesterdays session the number of reactors has increased in the last several years it was pointed out enactment ot at a few which would require the re testing for tuberculosis of all cattle brought into utah from other sates was advocated the veterinarians erin arians favored re testing of suc such animals between sixty and ninety days after entrance into the state such a measure was introduced in the last legislature but failed to pass the legislative committee appointed last year of which dr webb was chairman was renamed to work for the passage of a re testing law and other legislation deemed important dr john W chambers of garland formerly vice president of the association cia tion w was as elected president to succeed dr W H hendricks hend ricks of richmond john R curtis of richfield was chosen vice president and E A bundy of ogden was reelected secre tay tary treasurer it was decided to have a midwinter meeting and possibly a clinic A program of entertainment will be arranged dr M lloyd kilpack of murray dr L A browne of salt lake dr ij J M twitchell Twi of delta and dr A C johnson of cedar city were admitted to membership in the association tribune |
