Idaho has much more water than Utah and it is being appropriated very rapidly. Then the valley of the Snake, Boise and Payette rivers is lower than the main valleys of Utah. Caldwell and Nampa are some 1,700 feet lower in altitude than Salt Lake City, which is a great help to cul-tivation, cul-tivation, especially the raising of fruit. Then for eight years past Idaho has taken ' much better care of her fruit trees than Utah has, H , and this should be said of Utah no longer. The ; example set in turning the Snake river should be imitated by turning the Grand river in Utah. Quite as splendid results might be achieved, and the profit of the undertaking would be manifest from the start. Utah should prepare to feed a much denser population than she has at prcs- |
