Show To Stop Wars. At the 12th annual conference of international arbitration, held at Lake Mohawk, N. Y., the vet-el vet-el in statesman and diplomat ex-Secretary of State Foster said that while he believed there have been and may in future be righteous wars, he yet held tivit in the present stage of the world's progress nvjst wars may be avoided, and that if the powerful power-ful nations will unite in measures lookingto compulsory com-pulsory arbitration all aggressive wars may be prevented. Our belief is that invention will before long st'.p wars through the awful d'estructiveness of war's engines. The devices for killing men in wur have already reached a stage almost beyond poor human nature's powers of resistance. A little more and war will be reduced to its primitive ele-nvnts ele-nvnts and be considered as mere murder. |
